Introducing the #P4SCTChallenges
Introducing the Challengers
During the Pray for Schools fortnight (10-24 May), Wayne (Director) and Chris (Team Leader, London) will be completing a series of challenges, ranging from the doughnut challenge, to egg roulette, losing some hair and cycling the equivalent of visiting each crossteach team.
It isn’t just that lockdown boredom has got the better of them or that they need to fill their time. They are ready to take on these challenges to entertain you and encourage you to give to crossteach .
As a charity, we rely entirely on the generosity of our supporters. We receive no public grants and do not charge for any products or services. Therefore, each year we have to raise the money we need to provide a free service to schools. We still have a fundraising goal of £40,000 for 2019/20 and we are hoping to raise at least £10,000 by taking on these challenges.

Why challenges?
Normally at this time of year, we would be continuing with our face to face activities at church meetings and we would be running face to face supporter events. These would be the usual ways for us to raise money. Obviously we have had to cancel all of these events and activities due to the Covid-19 related restrictions. So, we have had to come up with an alternative way to raise money that can be done within the current restrictions.

The more you give the more challenges we will do.
What are the challenges?
£1,000 – If we reach £1,000 we will both do the Ice Bucket Challenge.
1,000 is also the approximate number of Bible clubs we run each year to allow pupils to explore the Christian faith more deeply each year.
£2,001 – if we reach £2001 we will both do a Doughnut Challenge.
2001 is the year crossteach started
£3,000 – if we reach £3,000 we will dress up as a character from one of our activities for the whole day, including essential travel, exercise, shopping, etc.
3,000 is also the approximate number of students who investigate the Christian faith through crossteach interactive Experiences each year
£4,000 – if we reach £4,000 we will play virtual egg roulette. There will be real eggs, but we will be in different locations linked by video.
4,000 is also the approximate number of total hours crossteach workers spend in school each year.
£5,000 – if we reach £5,000 we will have a dance off. Song and dance moves still to be decided!
5,000 is also the approximate number of students who critically engage with the Christian faith through crossteach lessons each year.
£7,500 – if we reach £7,500 we will lose some hair. We have both been growing beards and our hair is getting longer in anticipation of this challenge. Our legs might also be in danger!
7,500 is also the approximate number of students who take part in our inspiring assemblies each year.
What if we raise more than £10,000?
That would be amazing! We will come up with new challenges to complete. We might even see what suggestions our donors have.

How will the money be used?
Over 90% of all the money we raise goes to pay staff salaries so that almost all of our resources are put into enabling us to teach about the Christian faith in schools.
We need a further £40,000 to cover our costs for this academic year (2019/20) and if we raise our #P4SCTChallenges £10,000 target, that will go a long way to helping us achieve our total fundraising goal.
Each of the milestones will trigger a challenge for us to complete, but the numbers also relate to some key statistics about our work.
