crossteach Launches New Work in St Neots, Continuing Legacy of ACTIOS

St Neots, Cambridgeshire — July 2025

We are launching a new local team in St Neots this summer, stepping in to continue the work previously undertaken by ACTIOS, a longstanding presence in the town’s schools and churches.

ACTIOS, which served the local community for over two decades through Christian schoolswork, assemblies, RE lessons, and youth events, has made the difficult decision to cease operations due to changes in capacity and resourcing. The organisation was widely respected for its contribution to spiritual development and its commitment to supporting young people with a positive Christian presence in local schools.

crossteach, which partners with schools across the UK to help young people explore the Christian faith in an educational and accessible way, will now begin new work in the area. The charity says it is "honoured to be entrusted with continuing the legacy of ACTIOS" and is committed to working closely with local churches and school communities.

“We are grateful for the faithful work of ACTIOS and the foundations they’ve laid,” said Crossteach National Director, Wayne Harris. “We recognise the significant impact they’ve had in St Neots, and we’re excited to build on that, teaching about the Christian faith with respect, clarity, and creativity. Our desire is to see every school in the country served by Christian schoolswork and we work closely with many other schoolswork organisations providing training and resources and sharing expertise and experience. So, when we heard the work of ACTIOS was coming to an end, we wanted to see if there was anything we could do to keep this vital work going.”

The launch will begin with a part-time schoolsworker based locally, with plans to expand, depending on engagement and support. As in other areas, crossteach will offer assemblies, RE lessons, and lunchtime clubs, aiming to teach about Christianity in a way that supports schools’ educational aims and is appropriate for pupils of all backgrounds and beliefs.

Local churches have welcomed the news. “ACTIOS has been a valued partner for many years,” said Mike Kendall, Pastor of St Neots Evangelical Church. “We’re sad to see it close but encouraged that crossteach is stepping in with a heart to serve and connect with our young people.”

crossteach is working closely with ACTIOS to have as smooth a handover as possible and is currently meeting with local stakeholders, including schools and churches, to shape its approach and ensure continuity of service.
